Mark Whipple is an American Football offensive coordinator. Mark Whipple has been fired by University of Miami Hurricanes football team, new coach Al Golden has decided to bring in his own Offensive Coordinator. Previously, he worked as a quarterback coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers and as an offensive assistant coach with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Mark Whipple had been an assistant coach in the NFL since 2004. Prior to joining the NFL he spent 16 years as a coach in Division I-AA football. The highlight of his college career was coaching Division I-AA University of Massachusetts, where he posted a record of 49–25 with two conference championships. He was coach of UMass from 1998-2003. Mark Whipple won the NCAA Division I-AA national title in 1998. 
On January 25, 2007, Mark Whipple was let go by new Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, and replaced with Ken Anderson. The next day, Mark Whipple was hired by the Eagles.
After coach Tom O'Brien left Boston College to coach North Carolina State, it was reported that Mark Whipple was the leading candidate to replace him. That job eventually went to Jeff Jagodzinski. Mark and his wife, Brenda, have two sons, Spencer and Austin. On January 7, 2009 he was named University of Miami Hurricanes football team offensive coordinator. Whipple was fired along with head coach Randy Shannon, following the end of the season loss to South Florida, on November 27, 2010. 
There is speculation, with anonymous sources close to the UConn Huskies football department, Mark Whipple will be announced as the next head football coach, following the departure of Randy Edsall
