Devon Blackmon

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

Devon Blackmon is a special athlete that is reminiscent of an east coast version in Quan Bray. Blackmon is a dual-threat quarterback at this level because you want the ball in his hands on every snap, but he has cover corner or slot receiver written all over him for the next level.

Devon Blackmon could also develop into a terrific return specialist. He is remarkably smooth and fluid-- ease of movement and change-of-direction skills are excellent. Gets into his top gear in a hurry and can cut on a dime. He has feet like a sewing machine needle. All of his steps are calculated and effortless at the same time. He's a glider with elusive moves and a serious second gear in space. He actually runs with running back type vision and lateral agility. Fits through tiny creases, explodes into the open field and has the speed and burst to get to the edge, turn the corner and take it the distance.

Devon Blackmon 's a very shifty, decisive open-field runner who creates separation with his burst, low center of gravity and sharp breaks. Hips and ability to stop and start with no wasted motion are amongst the best in this entire class. Obviously Blackmon will need to learn the nuances and techniques of his eventual position, but with his instinctive athleticism and speed cannot be coached and we would not anticipate the learning curve being overly steep. He needs time in the weightroom and bulk for durability which will come at the next level. Overall, Blackmon is clearly one of this classes best athletes and skill players and one we think will have an opportunity to play early on in his career.
