Charlie Whitehurst was born August 6, 1982. Charlie Whitehurst is an American football quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League. He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Charlie Whitehurst played college football at Clemson.
Charlie Whitehurst was a player with the Alpharetta Youth Football Association (AYFA). His 1993 90 Pound Division 1 Team won the both the Southeastern Region Championship and the State of the Georgia Championship. His 1994 105 Pound Division 1 Team won the Division 1 Championship in GYFC and the Runner up for the State of the Georgia Championship. He attended Taylor Road Middle School and Carshena Jewish Academy.
Charlie Whitehurst attended Chattahoochee High School at Johns Creek, Georgia and was a letterman in football and baseball and basketball.
Whitehurst was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played in two regular season games as the 3rd stringer to Billy Volek and starter Philip Rivers.
Whitehurst was traded by the Chargers to the Seattle Seahawks on March 17, 2010 in exchange for a 2011 third-round draft pick, and the two teams switched second-round picks in 2010. He was then signed to a two-year, $8 million contract. He is currently the backup quarterback for the Seahawks. On November 7, 2010 Whitehurst started and played Week 9 against the New York Giants because starter Matt Hasselbeck was injured. Whitehurst started on January 2, 2011 in a Sunday Night game against the St. Louis Rams. Charlie Whitehurst , starting in place of Matt Hasselbeck, quickly got the Seahawks offense rolling. He connected with Ruvell Martin on a 61-yard pass play to the Rams 13-yard line. Four plays later, Whitehurst found Williams for the TD. Whitehurst was 5 for 5 for 85 yards on the opening drive. Charlie Whitehurst finished the first half 16 for 21 with 138 yards, 1 touchdown, and 0 interceptions. Whitehurst completed his first pass of the second half.
