Garrett Wittels was born in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida. Garrett Wittels is an American college baseball player with the Florida International University Golden Panthers in Miami, Florida. Wittels finished the 2010 season with a 56-game hitting streak, two hits shy of Robin Ventura's 58-game streak, the Division I record, set in 1987. Wittels is an infielder, mainly shortstop, and a pitcher for his team. He wears the number 10. Wittels was nominated for the Best Male College Athlete ESPY Award for his 2010 performance. Prior to the 2011 season, he was named to a NCBWA and Louisville Slugger/TPX Preseason All-American.
On December 27, 2010, it was reported that Garrett Wittels is under investigation in the Bahamas for suspicion of rape, stemming from a December 20, 2010 incident at the Atlantis Resort and Casino.
